An adventurous cup of coffee

I love coffee! Especially a good fresh cup of coffee can really be a moment of happiness for me. Especially when you have to hike for hours through the forest to arrive at a small coffee plantation, and together with some friendly locals you burn, grind and heat up a fresh cup of coffee, it is something to really really enjoy. Together with my guide Deus, we made our way through a dense forest, passing waterfalls and other natural beauty to his small family coffee plantation in the Materuni Village on the foot of the Kilimanjaro. Here, he showed me the process how they grow, pick, grind, roast, grind again and boil the coffee. He even let me participate so I could make my own cup of black gold! Along the way, I met many friendly locals, drank banana beer in the local bar and took a dip in the cold waters. Enjoy the photos!

View from Moshi on the Kilimanjaro, where the coffee plantations can be found.

Coffee beans.

Some friendly kids I met during our hike to the plantation.

Who really wanted me to take their photo!

We found Impressive hidden waterfalls..

And met curious youngsters..

And many banana trees!

The old coffee grinder that they use to grind the coffee beans

The kids were dancing and singing when we were making the coffee!

Deus was shaking up the beans!

Roasting the beans on open fire!

Another shuffle!

And some more dancing!

Coffee time!

The freshest coffee I have ever tasted!

Making some more (strange friends)!

Getting served homebrewn banana beer in the pub!

And receiving some friendly smiles!

And the local Chief came to say hello and got his photo taken!
